A special bonus for guests is that they can see whales, dolphins, flying fish, turtles, and an array of other sea life right from the villa. Bedroom and Bathroom Configuration
All seven bedrooms are very spacious with 13 foot vaulted ceilings and have areas that range from 333 sq. feet (rooms 4, 5, and 6) to 532 sq. feet (rooms 2 and 3) to 750 sq. feet (master bedroom with lock-off bedroom). There are 7 king-size beds, 8 twin beds. Each bedroom has an en-suite bathroom. The seventh bedroom which is a lock-off room from the master bedroom has a king size and a twin bed and its own bathroom. It can be accessed either from the master bedroom or its own separate entrance. All rooms have ceiling fans and the bedrooms have mini-split air conditioners. All bedrooms have glass windows so guests can sleep well in a quiet, cool environment. Many improvements have been made recently. The white cotton curtains, tropical hardwood curtain rods and closet doors, Mexican and Guatamalan cotton bedspreads, limited edition lithographs and original acrylic paintings as well as bronze sculptures give this vacation villa a warm comfortable atmosphere.
An architectural gem, Casa Macumba has enormous hand-hewn hardwood beams, terra cotta tile roof and big arched covered terraces. This authentic Mexican hacienda has that old Mexico feel without sparing the comforts and amenities of a modern home.
This remarkable vacation villa has over 8250 square feet of outdoor living space which includes a big blue oval pool, a lawn large enough to play volleyball and other lawn sports, and a patio that can seat up to 170 people for weddings and events.
The villa staff will organize a real fiesta Mexicana with mariachis, folkloric dancers, a mock cock fight (no blood) and prepare a traditional Mexican feast. The vacation villa includes reclining chairs with comfortable cushions, pool towels, two hammocks, and a thatched roof palapa where guests can enjoy their favorite drink and take in the most spectacular sunsets this side of the Rio Grande. Throughout the rental property are a variety of plants with flowers, shrubs and fruit trees including: coconut palms, bananas, guavas, two types of mangoes, and almonds. Guests are welcome to pick and eat the fruit.
Chef Prepares 2 Meals/Day During 8hrs (additional meals available). Each additional guest past 14 incur a nightly charge.
We celebrated the first birthday of our youngest and the chefs were more than happy to help us do so. They bought us a pinata, helped us in the yard to do the pinata with the kids, decorated the dining room and baked a delicious cake. They made it wonderful! Casa Macumba is VERY comfortable, the rooms were kept immaculate by Patricia and the grounds were spotless thanks to Fernando. We were a little concerned with the open floor plan to the pool with the little kids (3 children under 2), but Blair immediately built a "gate" for the door from the living room for us. We found ourselves outside most of the time because the breeze was refreshing and it was such a beautiful landscape. The menu provided to us was quite extensive and the preparation was delicious! We asked Carlos on more than one occasion to make separate dishes for the kids and he did so with smile!! Hugo cleared the table as soon as we were finished and served the most delicious desserts! The house is equipped with wireless internet and we all were able to access it with no problems. It is secured, so we were not worried when we had to enter confidential information. Nicholas, Blair's driver, is also a tour guide. He took us on two separate tours...first to the zip lines and a hike through the rain forest and second to the waterfalls. Both were amazing! He even went to a local village to pick up a professional cliff diver and brought him to the waterfall for us to see him dive! The kids then were able to slide down rocks and "dive" with him! The house is just a few steps from the beach. The beach is a sandy beach lined with beautiful rocks. Very easy to walk barefoot. We also were able to see some of the most amazing sights. On our second night we watched an olive ridley sea turtle come out of the ocean and lay her eggs. We watched mesmerized for about an hour. Then on our last night, we were even more amazed as a different nest of turtle eggs began to hatch. We watched with many others on the beach as 15 tiny sea turtles emerged from the nest and made their journey to the sea!
The cook, and her staff were awesome and made exceptional breakfasts and dinners (no lunch provided, which fit our schedule well). They had one night off when we had dinner in PV. If you want peace and quiet away from town with a nearly private beach with a view of Los Arcos, this is the place. We kayaked to Los Arcos which was a long trek, snorkeled along the local beach and enjoyed the ocean and the pool. Accommodations were comfortable, very clean and liveable. The worst comment I can make was there was no hot tub. We would go back again in an instant. My only concern would be the construction that is occurring now on BOTH sides of the villa which may impact privacy,noise and sunlight in the future.
This place is everything the website says it is. I organized a Bachelor Party in November of '04 for my brother and it was perfect. Everyone was extremley impressed with accomadations. Patty is phenomenal and goes the extra mile to make sure you are taken care of. Blair, the owner, is one of the nicest guys you will meet and he too makes sure your every need is met and gives great restaurant recommendations. Blair even drove us to the store to get more beer. Place is very clean and not too far from town. Truly paradsie. You must stay here.
